It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to shoot with Zerina Cosplay again! This time we’ve got exclusive photos of her Redeemed Riven (League of Legends) cosplay. She may not do many costumes, but the ones she does create are amazing, high-quality pieces. I’ve brought ChillyWilly again to do a behind-the-scenes video as well as my assistant, and budding photographer, Hall To.
Location! Location! Location!
If you remember from our previous shoot of her Battle Bunny Riven cosplay, I was going for an in-game sort of theme and look. For this shoot, I went for more of a character display; showing the character and her history, and putting her in her environment. I chose Stoney Point Park in Chatsworth, CA. It has large boulder formations that make for a great backdrop. The location gives a bit of a barren look that is fitting with Riven’s story of exile. We got there a little bit later than I had planned so I didn’t quite get the lighting that I wanted, but the sun was still high enough to give a nice glow to the area.
I’ve upgraded my lighting gear a bit since I last shot with Zerina Cosplay. I used a single PCB Einstein strobe behind a 43″ white shoot-thru umbrella for all the shots as it gives me significantly more power than a speedlight can do. Fortunately, I can still use my Phottix Odin‘s to trigger the strobe, but it means I don’t have the convenience (laziness?) of TTL anymore. Not a big problem though as I just compensated for the distance of the light by adjusting my ISO up or down accordingly.
ChillyWilly was once again on hand to get some behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot. You can catch a glimpse of me in action as well as some detail of Zerina’s costume.
As always, thanks for checking out the photos! Feel free to send me a message on facebook if you have any questions or comments.
