We have a special guest contributor providing us SacAnime Summer 2013 coverage. He is Reno Benasfre of Renoben Photography.
SacAnime is an Anime convention that is held in Sacramento every year for the past 8 years, and due to the growth of SacAnime the convention decided to relocate to a bigger location at the Sacramento Convention Center earlier this year. Since SacAnime is held twice a year, this was actually their second time at this new Convention Center. The new location is quite nice, and filled with many locations to visit there for con goers for food or places just to hang out, as well as a wide variation of shooting locations for photographers ranging from nature, Urban to even Industrial locations. The only problem is most food places will close at 6-7pm, so you’ll have to eat early!
The Convention itself held many different types of guest ranging from Musical Artist, Voice Actors/Actress, Actors, and Actress, as well as many different talented Artist in the Anime Industry. Some of the guest panels I had the opportunity to attend was the Power Rangers Samurai panel which featured Hector David Jr, Najee De-Tiege, Alex Heartman, and Steven Skylar. Another panel I got to enjoy was the Sword Art Online Panel which featured the American dub voice actor Bryce Papenbrook who voices for Kirito, and the voice actress Cherami Leigh who voices for Asuna. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to any of the Live Music performances, but SacAnime featured two music guest Eyeshine and Akai Sky. Both bands are well known around the NorCal area, and are bands that have performed in the past at SacAnime.
If all the guest wasn’t enough reason to go there were many other types of events to go to during the convention. Such as the Japanese Fashion Show, Ballroom Dancing Lessons, an Arcade room, a Maid Cafe, Gaming rooms, Karaoke, a Masquerade, Dealers Hall, Artist Alley, and more! The convention also brought in a wide variety of different types of cosplayers, and cosplays from around the area, and even out of country! I had the oppunity to work with a lot of great cosplayers down there, and I have to say I did enjoy my stay there. Would I say it’s worth going to? I think so if you haven’t been to a Sac Anime yet, then it’s definitely worth checking out next year for SacAnime Winter during January 3-5, 2014, and you’ll be able to see such guest as Steve Downes, Jen Taylor, Steve Blum, Ashly Burch, and Vic Mignogna for next years Sac Anime. So see you there!
