Cosplay in the Digital World

June 28, 2013

The cosplay world is getting bigger. Remember the time when good quality colored wigs were a miracle to come across? Don’t even talk to me about getting one that was actually sold in the states. The market have evolved, anime conventions are popping up all over the place, so how do we respond to it?

Cosplay blogs. Just as people are doing in the fashion industries, hardcore cosplayers and hobbyists are looking to what the masses is talking about. We look at trends, we anticipate our favorite cosplayers new costumes, and we follow progress and get excited for Con season!

In response to this sped up sharing of information my partner and I have created CosplayTelegram, which is an Instagram account that features a cosplayer and photographer daily. The power of Instagram is that we see a picture quickly and then move on to the next new thing. Featuring talent on Instagram gives us a taste, so to speak, of the new trend, seeing what the world is looking at for the most part and giving something as small as a low resolution square shaped image power; the power to broadcast, journalize, and highlight new and fresh talent in the cosplay world.

I encourage everyone to submit images (not only to CosplayTelegram but to Cosplay Photographers as well) to get their idea across, because putting on a costume and getting beautiful images out of it is one rush, but having response and creating discussion and inspiring passion is growth.

If you’re interested in submitting to CosplayTelegram, please send your images to with credits to all talent involved!
