Spring Cosplay in Downtown Seattle
Spring is in the air! And that means cosplay season has once again started up. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we love to get our cosplay on, rain or shine. Luckily enough, the weekend we chose to hit up Downtown Seattle had beautiful sunny weather the entire time!
Searching around the internet, I could not find cosplay photos from some of the most icon locations around Downtown Seattle. It since became my goal to fill in this void. This photo set includes some new locations such as Pike Place Market and Westlake Park, while continuing with some more regular locations like Freeway Park. Each photo represents a unique view of the Downtown Seattle skyline, greenery, and daily life.
The first three images here show off the amazing nature available in the middle of the crowded Downtown Seattle Metro area. Green trees, lush bushes, and flower gardens are a common sight.

These next three images shows off more of the scenery around the park, including the large concrete structure for the fountains, and the views of the city from this location.

Another area of the park which is less frequently used, despite only being a few more feet away, is the lower and smaller fountain area. For this area, we had No More Heroes! And things started to get a little more… interesting…

When it becomes dark out, it becomes time to head indoors to keep warm. We decided to get some photos from inside the Seattle Sheraton Hotel lobby where we were staying. This time also meant we could relax for a while after a few long days of running around the city. There had big comfy couches and plenty of large open spaces for taking photos.

Continuing with the indoor shoots, and going with the idea of a common location with a new vision, here are the steps at the back of the hotel. Every year, more and more cosplay photos are taken on these beautiful white steps, but this time I wanted something a little more unique. Most photos are using taken from the bottom of the stairs with the model sitting or standing on the stairs. But what happens when both the model and photographer are on the stairs? Here is a brand new perspective of one of are favorite location shooting locations.

Here is a location, that to my surprise, I was unable to find any cosplay photos from anywhere. Pike Place Market is one of the main iconic photographic scenes of Downtown Seattle. This location is perfect for many types of shots with any type of urban scene you can dream up. Featured here is the crowded main hallway of the market at street level.

Another iconic location is the glass archway over the Washington State Convention Center. This convention center is home of Emerald City Comicon, PAX Prime, and Sakura-Con. It is a wonder why this piece of architecture isn’t used more often as a background for cosplay photos taken during these three large conventions. A goal of mine was to fill that gap, and here is the resulting image.

And finally, here is the last location which I wanted to use. Another great location for photos that is hardly, if ever, used for cosplay. This is Westlake Park, right across the street from Westlake Center. This park represents the city life of Downtown Seattle as it hosts countless out door events all year long. Having this park empty and clear at night time for a shoot was simply a dream… Oh, and there were light sabers, too!
