Yaoi-Con 2011 (Y-Con) was our second year at this con, although the first con as well as the official con launch of Cosplay Photographers and it was a huge success! We had the opportunity to meet many new cosplayers, hang out with old friends, shoot with other cosplay photographers, and do a number of our own cosplay photo shoots.
And while Yaoi-Con was still held in Burlingame, it was held at the San Francisco Airport Marriott versus the Hyatt for whatever reasons. While the Marriott is certainly a very nice hotel along the waterfront, it does feel smaller than the Hyatt and from a photographer’s standpoint, less scenes to choose from to do photo shoots; but you know that never stopped us! This year, wefelt like there was less people attending, but the quality of the cosplays were still quite amazing.
We had a great time hanging out and chatting with our fellow cosplay photographers: Eric Ng (BigWhiteBazooka), Michael Cabusi, Andy Rak, Martin Wong, Ken Eden, Erskine Noel, Kris Ling (BlizzardTerrak), Rachael Masako Ing (Masakocha), Lionel Lum, and if I forgot to mention your name, please shoot me an email and I’ll add it.
We also had a great time hanging out with the amazing cosplayers: Nadia (Pho3nix), Jan Illenberger (Hikaru-Jan), Matt Landau, Momo Monica, Sharon Peng, Haku Nguyen, Jill Kureibon, Misster Gloo, Addie Gingold (mochi-snack), Kei Ta, Peter, Janelle Ann, Crystal Like, Imari Yumiki, Trevor Scott (HybridTwist), Laura Cee & Saiho, Alicia Dang (dollyfaced), Castor Lai, Yomi Yoko Matsushita (Yokomaid), Yukari, and sorry to the many others whose name I forgot (send me an email if I forgot you).
Sadly, we’ve heard on Anime News Network that this was the last Yaoi-Con to be held in Northern California and that they are now moving it down south to Los Angeles. But, in the meantime, enjoy some photos we took of amazing cosplayers below, you can see the Yaoi-Con teaser pics on our Facebook, and also checkout these other cosplay photographers’s Yaoi-Con galleries (more to come as we find them):
