We had the pleasure of attending the 2011 Spirit of Japan Festival for the first-time ever, taking place in the heart of Japantown in San Jose, CA. The Spirit of Japan Festival is a one day festival organized by the Japantown Community Congress of San Jose full of various activities. While walking around, there were endless food vendors from Hawaiian to Thai food, amazing sponsored street artists for Cukui, amazing performances (San Jose Taiko, Kalae Miles, Halau Na Wai Ola, Wesley Ukulele Band, Na Leo Nahenahe, the FaniMaids, and more), and even an exotic/import car show with everything from Civics to Ferraris.
What mainly brought us out to this event was the FaniMaids, Fanime’s maid staff for the Maid Cafe. We’re always too busy during Fanime and always miss the FaniMaids and figured this would be a good opportunity to see what they were all about and they definitely did not disappoint with their performance! We also came out to support our good friend Yomi Yoko Matsushita, a FaniMaid.
I’m certainly ready for next year! Enjoy a small sample of the photos from the festival and you can see the rest of them in our gallery here.
